Home Barn is a converted barn providing guest accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis. The age and grade listing of our building dictates accessibility constraints and the details below will provide you with further information. Please do contact us if you require any further clarification.

Pre-Arrival

We are in a rural location and having your own transportation is recommended.

Our nearest train stations are either Yeovil Pen Mill or Yeovil Junction which are 3.6miles and 4.2 miles respectively from us. Our nearest bus station is also in Yeovil and is 2.9 miles away. Taxi services are available from the train and bus station.

Our nearest airport is Bristol Airport which is 43 miles from us (approx. 1 hour by car).

Arrival and Car Parking

If driving to us, SatNav will take you to the hamlet of Mudford Sock. Home Barn Bed and Breakfast is signposted from the road. Turn into the farm lane and Home Barn is at the top of the short lane.

Parking is on a stone pebble chip surface and lit by security sensor lights at night directly in front of Home Barn.

There are lights at the main house entrance.

There are 3 stone steps to the main entrance door.

We are always happy to assist with your luggage from the parking area to the main entrance.

Main Entrance & Reception

All guest rooms lead from our main entrance hall.

Our breakfast room also leads from our main entrance hall.

There is a lounge area in the hall with a settle and two armchairs and a bookcase with local maps, information, DVDs and a small collection of games.

There is also a coffee machine and an honesty bar in the hall. A small fridge has fresh milk and water available for guests.

Breakfast Room

Breakfast is served in our dining room – access as above.

There is long elm dining table that seats four and a  smaller oak table that seats two. A chair with arms can be provided if requested. All other chairs are regular chairs without arms.

Breakfast menus are available in large type if requested.

All hot food is prepared and served to the tables personally by ourselves.

Items such as juice, cereal, toast and jams etc. are available from a side table for guests to help themselves.

Laundry

We do not offer a laundry facility but please do let us know if you have a laundry emergency!

An iron and ironing board can be supplied on request.

Bedrooms

We have one ground floor room that is accessed from the entrance hall which is suitable for limited mobility guests who have some independent walking capacity.

Our first floor room is accessed by a staircase with hand rail. There are 11 steps up to the landing and the steps are 18cm in depth and 100m wide.

Audible smoke detectors are in every guest room and throughout the rest of the house.

All guest rooms have both centrally operated ceiling lighting and bedside table lamps giving good light levels.

All guest rooms have FreeView television/DVD with remote control, cordless kettle, alarm clock, hairdryer, fan heater and tea, coffee and biscuits.

The first floor bedroom has a two seater sofa, superking bed (can be made into twins on request), dresser with drawers, wardrobe, a marble topped table with a chair, two bedside tables with lamps and blackout blinds on the window.

The ground floor bedroom has a king bed, chest of drawers, pegs with hangers, a padded blanket box by the window and a pine desk and chair for tea facilities, one armchair, a bedside table and two lamps.

All guest rooms are carpeted.

All guest rooms are tastefully decorated to suit the character of the building.

Bathrooms

All rooms are en-suite.

The ground floor room bathroom has a bath and integral shower, a toilet and a hand basin.

The upstairs room has a wet-room with a shower, toilet and hand basin

All bathrooms have an overhead light and a light above the sink with shaver socket.

The ground floor bathroom has laminate flooring and the upstairs wet-room is tiled.

Grounds and Gardens

Home Barn has a fenced grassed area to the rear of the house that features a pond. The gate to this area is always kept shut. Guests are very welcome to visit this area but all children must be supervised because of the pond. There is a stone chipped area with raised beds at the front of the house with a small table and chairs that guests are also welcome to use.

There are agricultural buildings and a carpentry workshop that are in use to the side and rear of the house which are off access to all guests.

As we are rural, there are some surfaces which are uneven or sloping.

All exits are clearly marked.

The house are gardens are non-smoking.

Mobile phone reception is variable.

We are, on the most part, available for our guests and are always happy to share local attraction information.

We have free wi-fi with wi-fi extenders located in the house.

If we are away from the house, all guests will have our mobile number to contact us.
